Most competitors, not running ads at all

If you sell garage floors, storage, or cabinets, most of your local competitors are not advertising on Meta at all. Of the 42 companies we audited across five markets, 26 ran no Meta ads.

If you sell garage floors, storage, or cabinets, most of your local competitors are not advertising on Meta at all. Of the 42 companies we audited across five markets, 26 ran no Meta ads.

The ones who do advertise tend to run the same national template, a pain hook, a dollars-off offer, and a lifetime warranty, into a local auction that does not resemble the one two states over. That is the position most operators are in when they decide whether Meta is worth it: guessing at who they are bidding against, and worried the answer from an agency will be a generic package built on national best practices.

The owners we built this for had usually been sold copy before, three headlines, a stock photo of a clean garage, a lead form, and a cost-per-lead report, and wanted to know what actually runs in their market before spending into it.

Dallas is an open price war. Las Vegas is nearly empty and won on reputation. Orlando’s advertisers all sell the same makeover. A national template would be wrong in three of the five markets, so no market got one.

Garage floors and overhead racks ran as separate campaigns in each metro, so cost per lead stays readable per product instead of blending into one number that hides the winners.

We map the market before we write the copy

This is the part most agencies skip, because it is slow and produces nothing billable on day one.

Explore the details +

This is the part most agencies skip, because it is slow and produces nothing billable on day one.

Franchise location pages, local independents, and national e-commerce brands each behave differently, so each is pulled separately. In Southern California that meant checking 22 companies across five counties to establish that only three were running ads.

The US Ads Library hides impressions and spend for commercial advertisers, so we use the two signals it does expose: how long an ad has run continuously, and how many near-identical variants are live. Both cost the advertiser money, so both signal confidence.

Offers, price framing, warranty language, install-speed claims, and proof stacks are recorded as written, not paraphrased. About 300 ads went through this. It is the slow part, and it is the part that produces everything useful.

The single largest finding in the study is that the five markets barely resemble each other. A strategy built for one of them can be actively wrong in another.

Longevity proves commitment, not profit. A heavily duplicated ad proves confidence, not lead quality. Those boundaries get flagged, not dressed up as fact.

  • 01 Find every advertiser, not the obvious ones
  • 02 Read the winners without spend data
  • 03 Transcribe the copy verbatim, ad by ad
  • 04 Treat each market as its own problem
  • 05 Separate evidence from what we would like to believe

A price war already in progress

“Got a quote for your garage floor? Don’t book it yet. Send it to us and we’ll try to beat the price.”

“$650 = 2 Racks, 1 Clean Garage. Texas’s veteran-owned garage storage pro, trusted by 5,000+ happy homeowners.”

What this market teaches In a market where price is already the battlefield, arriving with a slightly lower number means entering an auction someone else designed. The defensible ground is risk reversal, install speed, and proof, and you have to know the war is happening before you can decline to fight it that way.

  • My Garage Floors Independent ~25 ads. Price-match interception, instant online quote, explicitly no sales visit.
  • HDR Garage Independent ~9 ads. Hard price anchor on storage, veteran-owned, pay after install, 5,000+ homeowners.
  • Granite Garage Floors Independent ~24 ads across Dallas and Atlanta. 2-day install, lifetime warranty, 25,000 garages.
  • Garage Living Franchise ~31 ads, mostly video. Up to $2,000 off, free in-home design consultation.
  • Garage Force of North Dallas Franchise New page; lead-form ads launched July 2026.
  • DFW Classic Coatings Independent ~2 carousel ads. $250 off, 1-day install, owner-operated, no middleman.

“Watch this floor come to life ✨”

What this market teaches The largest garage market in America is being contested by essentially one franchise system. Operators with six hundred reviews and thousands of completed floors are invisible on the platform their buyers use daily. “UV Stable, Built for California” is also the only market-specific environmental claim found across all forty-two companies. Nobody else localizes, anywhere.

“Advertising” counts the companies actually running ads against the number audited. “Competitive intensity” is a read of how contested the auction is, not a published figure.

This is not an invented template. It is what is left when the study’s longest-running ads are reduced to their shared components.

The opening line describes the garage the homeowner is embarrassed by: clutter, cracks, stains, a car stuck in the driveway.

A price, a range, or a dollars-off figure. Every ad in the study still running past six months contained one.

“1 day” or “2 days” appears in nearly every long-running flooring ad read.

Lifetime coverage is effectively table stakes among franchise advertisers. Independents that omit it compete without a net.

Counts, not adjectives: reviews, floors installed, garages transformed, years in business, local awards.

Who the owner is. It closes the trust gap created by letting a stranger install something permanent in your home.

Across all five markets, every ad still running after six months named a price, a count, a warranty term, or a timeframe. Not one long-running winner relied on adjectives alone.

Campaigns, creative, and data are on accounts the client owns and can take with them.

The team that mapped the market also wrote and ran these campaigns.

  • 01 Competitor “winners” are inferred, not measured. The US Meta Ads Library publishes impressions and spend only for political advertising, so we read commitment and confidence from continuous run-time and variant count. Neither proves a competitor’s profitability or lead quality.
  • 02 The snapshot is dated and moves. Ad counts are approximate, listings change daily, and all quoted copy was current during the research window of July 23 to August 9, 2026.
  • 03 Our own numbers stop at the lead. The eight campaigns show lead volume and cost per lead over a trailing, partial delivery window as captured in the account. They do not establish booked jobs, close rate, or revenue.
